WASHINGTON, D.C.—Five members of The Myopia Collective, a joint initiative between the American Optometric Association (AOA) and CooperVision, met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill November 17–18, 2025, to advocate for the Early Detection of Vision Impairments (EDVI) for Children Act of 2025 (H.R. 2527). The bipartisan bill represents the first proposed federally funded program focused on children’s vision and eye health. The Myopia Collective, a partnership aimed at elevating the standard of care among the optometry profession and its allies for children with myopia, was launched in April of 2024 by CooperVision and the AOA.
