Rocco Basilico to Step Down in January as EssilorLuxottica’s Chief Wearables Officer

NEWARK, N.J.—Rocco Basilico, chief wearables officer with EssilorLuxottica (Reuters: ESLX.PA) since 2019, will be stepping down in January, the company has confirmed to VMAIL. Basilico, who has played a key role in the company’s development and launch of wearable technologies, helped to initiate and lead the partnership between EssilorLuxottica and Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META). The two companies have been collaborating since 2019, resulting in the launch of Ray-Ban branded smart glasses, and inked a long-term partnership for smart eyewear in 2024 that has seen the evolution of the Ray-Ban brand of smart glasses and the introduction of Oakley Meta HSTN in June of this year.
