Vote on Alcon-STAAR Merger Agreement Pushed to January 6

GENEVA and LAKE FOREST, Calif.—STAAR Surgical Company (NASDAQ: STAA) announced on Friday that the special meeting of stockholders in connection with the Alcon (SIX/NYSE: ALC) merger agreement, which was scheduled for December 19, 2025, has been adjourned to January 6, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. ET. According to the announcement, the change comes after Alcon exercised its right under the merger agreement to require STAAR, leading developer of phakic intraocular lenses with the EVO family of Implantable Collamer Lenses (EVO ICL) for vision correction, to adjourn the meeting, during which a vote on the merger agreement was slated to take place.
