NEW YORK—SUNY College of Optometry has announced that graduate Zi Rui “Jerry” Li, OD,  and faculty collaborator Jingyun Wang, Ph.D., are advancing the development of a novel contact lens designed to treat intermittent exotropia (IXT) strabismus, a condition that causes outward eye misalignment and can lead to double vision and worsening nearsightedness in children. The college said the clinical research study is a milestone highlighting its growing reputation as a hub for real-world eyecare innovation. Supported by SUNY research funding, mentorship and industry partnerships, the technology is now preparing for clinical testing and potential future use in patient care, the announcement noted.
