The Vision Council Foundation Kicks Off National Sunglasses Day 2026 With Industrywide Campaign

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—The Vision Council Foundation announced today it is calling on eyecare providers, optical retailers and members of the eyewear and eyecare industry to support the 2026 National Sunglasses Day celebration on June 27. National Sunglasses Day is a nationwide effort to elevate UV-protective eyewear as a daily wellness essential. Just as sunscreen is a daily essential for skin protection, sunglasses are also vital in shielding the eyes from harmful UV rays, the announcement said. Prolonged sun exposure can cause photokeratitis, essentially a sunburn on the eyes, and increases the chances of cataracts or eye cancers.
