MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—During Google I/O 2026 held this week, Google revealed the latest updates as it drives toward the release of intelligent eyewear before the year is out. Shared via the company’s corporate blog, the announcement indicates that Google will be releasing two types of intelligent eyewear, including both audio and display glasses, with the former configuration scheduled for release first, debuting later this fall. The news marks the latest milestone following the company’s announcement one year ago that it would be partnering with three major eyewear companies—Warby Parker Inc., (NYSE: WRBY) Kering Eyewear and Gentle Monster—for the development of smart glasses grounded in its Android XR platform.
