ABDO Announces Passing of Professor Mohammed Jalie, Internationally Renowned Ophthalmic Lens Expert

LONDON—The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) announced the death of professor Mohammed (Mo) Jalie DSc, SMSA, FBDO (Hons), Hon FCGI, Hon FCOptom, MCMI, a dispensing optician, scholar and ophthalmic lens innovator, who passed away on May 20, 2026. Dr. Jalie was 85 years old. A member of the ABDO since 1965, Dr. Jalie was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Association in 2002. He was born in 1941 and dedicated more than five decades of his life to advancing the science and practice of ophthalmic lenses and vision care worldwide, ABDO said.
