ST. LOUIS and HOUSTON—Kyle Dohm, OD, has been named the first-ever aerospace optometry fellow at NASA, according to Dr. Dohm’s alma mater, the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry (UMSL). A 2006 graduate of UMSL, Dr. Dohm served in the United States Navy for 20 years and will begin his two-year fellowship in September 2026. This fellowship is a first of its kind at NASA, and was created by Tyson Brunstetter, OD/MS, Ph.D., a specialist in spaceflight associated neuro-ocular syndrome (SANS) at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston. Dr. Brunstetter, a retired Navy captain, has been a mentor to Dr. Dohm throughout his career, UMSL said.
