J&J, Alcon Expand Toric CL Parameters

Click image to enlarge.  At the AOA annual meeting in Phoenix, two contact lens manufacturers announced additional cylinder powers for several contact lenses.This morning, Alcon shared that the toric versions of its Precision1, Precision7 and Total30 lenses will add a -2.75D option. The new Total30 parameter is available now and the others will be released in the second half of the year. At a press event, the company emphasized the importance of having more parameter options on hand for new contact lens patients in particular to ensure they have an easy on-ramp to lens wear.Earlier this week, Johnson & Johnson Vision said that its Acuvue Oasys 1-Day toric lens now comes with a -2.75D cyl option, in addition to existing powers of -0.75D, -1.25D, -1.75D and -2.25D. The move follows a similar expansion the company made to its monthly replacement lens Acuvue Vita earlier this year.
