ALEXANDRIA, Va.—The Vision Council announced yesterday that, against the backdrop of ongoing concerns regarding the impact of tariffs on the optical industry, representatives from the organization had met on April 21 with Robin Colwell, deputy assistant to President Trump and deputy director of the National Economic Council, at the White House. At the meeting, representatives shared how vision care supports public health, education, workforce participation, and aging and also emphasized the challenges posed by the administration’s current trade policies.
