Steven Gedde, MD, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s Glaucoma Expert, Is Named President of the American Glaucoma Society

MIAMI—The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has announced that Steven Gedde, MD, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s vice chair of education and the John G. Clarkson chair in ophthalmology, has been named president of the American Glaucoma Society (AGS), an ophthalmology subspecialty society with more than 1,600 members in 17 countries. The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s care, research and education center. Dr. Gedde has authored 400 articles, book chapters and abstracts, the school noted in its announcement, and chaired studies involving the expansion of tube shunt surgery for patients with previous cataract and/or glaucoma surgery.
