
Prevent Blindness Designates May as Its Second Annual Inherited Retinal Disease and Genetic Testing Month

CHICAGO—Prevent Blindness, a nonprofit eye health organization, has designated May as its second annual Inherited Retinal Disease (IRD) and Genetic Testing Month, according to an announcement from the organization. The May initiative helps to raise awareness of IRDs such as choroideremia, cone-rod dystrophy, Leber congenital amaurosis, retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and Stargardt disease. As part of its educational campaign for the public and allied health professionals, Prevent Blindness has a variety of free resources available including videos, online resources, shareable social media graphics and fact sheets in both English and Spanish.
