
Prevent Blindness Declares June as Cataract Month

CHICAGO—Prevent Blindness, a nonprofit eye health organization, has declared June as Cataract Month to raise awareness about the eye condition and provide patients and professionals with free educational resources on cataract, according to an announcement from the organization. More than half of all Americans age 80 or older either have cataract or have had surgery to remove cataract, according to the National Eye Institute, and cataract surgery is one of the most common operations in the United States.
