
Historic $40 Million Gift to University of Colorado Anschutz' Department of Ophthalmology Will Fuel Research, New Therapies

NEWARK, N.J.—The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus announced that its Department of Ophthalmology received a historic $40 million gift to be used for the treatment and potential cure of eye diseases like macular degeneration and glaucoma; increase the focus on basic science; and harness artificial intelligence to revolutionize vision care in the years ahead. Part of the gift is available for immediate use, including funding for critical basic science research in vision preservation and restoration, while the rest will provide ongoing support well into the future, the announcement stated.
