ST. LOUIS—A new clinical report by the AOA’s evidence-based optometry committee warns of rare but serious ocular complications that can occur in patients who use GLP-1 receptor agonists and offers recommendations for ODs. The report said approximately 6 percent of the U.S. adult population take glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) for chronic diseases or weight loss, and these medications can be associated with significant ocular complications, according to the committee.
