Topcon Healthcare Acquires Intelligent Retinal Imaging Systems

LA JOLLA, Calif. and PENSACOLA, Fla.—Topcon Healthcare, Inc., a global leader in ophthalmic medical devices and digital health solutions, has announced the acquisition of Intelligent Retinal Imaging Systems (IRIS), a U.S.-based developer of cloud-based retinal screening technology. The IRIS team will continue operating from its headquarters in Pensacola, Fla., as an affiliate of Topcon Healthcare, according to the announcement. Additional terms of the transaction were not disclosed. IRIS’s technology brings retinal screenings into routine clinical settings, empowering primary care physicians, federally qualified health centers, and health systems to identify undiagnosed retinal disease as part of standard preventive care, the announcement said.
