The Vision Council’s Webinar Provides Updates on the Latest Tariffs, Outlines Their Impact on the Optical Industry

NEWARK, N.J.—The Vision Council hosted a webinar on Thursday during which it detailed the sweeping reciprocal tariffs that took effect on August 7, and the 90-day pause issues on new China-specific duties, underscoring broad implications for eyewear and optical suppliers. Rick Van Arnam, the council’s regulatory affairs counsel, told attendees, “Anything that you’re bringing in on or after [August 7] is going to be subject to those tariff rates,” with limited exceptions for goods already at sea, among other exceptions.
