U.S. and E.U. Ink Trade Deal, Minimal Impact Anticipated for Optical Industry

WASHINGTON—The White House and the European Commission last week unveiled a framework trade agreement that calls for a maximum, all-inclusive 15 percent tariff on the majority of imported goods of European origin. Imports that are already subject to a most-favored-nation (MFN) tariff of 15 percent or more will apply, whichever is higher, and not be subject to additional duties, according to the statement.
