Lens Product Description Standards Are Under Review by The Vision Council Committee

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—The Vision Council Lens Product Description Standards (LPDS) Committee convened once again at Vision Expo West in September to continue the task of updating and overhauling the existing standards known as Version 1.00, which replaced the Lens Description Standard v2.2. As Vision Monday reported, the existing guidelines were released in October 2023. The industry relies on the product description standards to provide guidelines on factors related to the manufacturing of lenses, including an industrywide data file structure and related terminology.
