
STAAR Surgical’s Shareholder Vote on Planned Sale to Alcon Is Adjourned Until November 6

GENEVA, Switzerland and LAKE FOREST, Calif.—Yesterday’s STAAR Surgical (NASDAQ: STAA) shareholder vote on Alcon's proposed acquisition of the company was adjourned until November 6, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. PT. STAAR Surgical and Alcon agreed to adjourn the October 23 special meeting of stockholders, in connection with STAAR’s merger agreement with Alcon, according to an announcement issued by the two companies following the meeting’s postponement. The proposed transaction with Alcon (NYSE:ALC), valued at an estimated price of $1.5 billion, faces opposition from majority STAAR shareholder Broadwood Partners, a New York City-based investment firm that invests in public equities, and three proxy advisory firms.
