NEW YORK—Orbis International, a global eyecare nonprofit, and Siloam Vision, a company focused on bringing technology to market to reduce preventable blindness worldwide, recently announced the launch of an AI-assisted retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) screening program at the the National Center for Maternal and Child Health (NCMCH) neonatal intensive care unit in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, an Orbis partner hospital. Launched in 2023, the partnership between Orbis and Siloam Vision, combines Siloam’s proprietary AI technology with Orbis’s health systems-strengthening model and long-term partnerships in local communities to extend high-quality eyecare to premature infants in some of the world’s hardest-to-reach areas, the announcement noted.
